Roofscape – The existing house is extended with a series of new rooms and a guest room. Each of these is like a small house that is added to the main volume, the guest room even has its own access. The volumes have been designed from the inside out to create rich and simple spaces in the interior that as a cluster form the new house. Each of the new rooms and the main hall with the staircase has its own roof which results in a roofscape of multiple gable roofs.
Walls – The new structural walls follow the same principle as the existing load bearing walls and insert themselves in between the existing walls. By continuing the same structural and volumetric logic, the extension has the ambition to become a new whole with the original house.
The logic and inherent spirit of the original house has been extrapolated into the new volume that makes it into an evolved urban type where a set of rooms are organised around a central hall, but where some also have there own access.
