STW0004 - MOL - Garden
design: garden
designteam: Studio Thomas Willemse
type: landscape
time: 2015-...

Mol grew as a linear town along the stream 'Nete' with very deep parcels perpendicular to the river on the one hand and perpendicular to the main street that connects all the sub-centres of the town on the other hand. The centre is formed by a local multiplication of these parallel and linear streets with perpendicular parcels.

The landscape of a garden for such a parcel is then composed of two elements with a different orientation: (1) First the borders of the parcels, perpendicular to the street that form the border with the neighbours. These create a strong border, but can become more soft and transparent further from the house. (2) Perpendicular to these edges there are a couple of green filters to provide privacy towards the street and the back neighbours. These transversal, linear and ever higher plantings give an experience of a décor from the house with an equal palette of plants in the front and in the back.
