The transition of the historical garden neighbourhood Ter Elst in Leuven to a climate neighbourhood cannot happen without its residents. The neighbourhood renovation spans many domains, both public and private: the necessary climate adaptation in the public domain, energy transition, renovation of the houses with respect for the heritage ...
Using the model of the neighbourhood engine, the missing link is sought between the various renovation and transition projects of residents, the city, cooperatives ... in order to create the climate neighbourhood together.
All residents play a central role, including the dreams of the children and youths of the neighbourhood. On a colourful base model, the local children and youths were able to build their dream square. They presented the result to the neighbourhood residents and city services: a dream proposal of a greener square with a bicycle loop, tree houses, chickens and a basket ring!
